"vivid black sucks"

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Must disagree. I have the same problems described with the white pearl and brandy wine sunglo. Products like the Black Box by Turtle Wax are good options. Have two black Dodge's and helps with those as well.

Besides, everyone knows that black Harleys are faster and they break down less. If they require some additional TLC to keep them shiny and pretty, so be it. It's worth it.

I have tried everything on my vivid black bike. It was silver when I bought it and you could not see any scratches at all no matter what you did. But, when the black is clean, it looks sick. I have let go of it being absolutely perfect a long time ago. Now I use the Nano Wax or Turtle wax nano style stuff. Good enough.

if you like the flat black look and plan on keeping your bike, "HOT ROD BLACK" by SEM is a great product. it's durrable and stays clean. it's whats on my bike. if you remove the tins your self and take them to a body shop they will spray it for you for around 600 bucks, of course if your able to spray your self it will cost you about 110 for a quart. and you will have plenty of paint left over.

I will have to try that turtle wax black box stuff.......so basically your just filling in the scratches with the black colored wax? I'm guessing everytime you wash her you have to put another coat on? Is that right? I have some good ones on the tank have to freaking idea how they got there....I might as well handle the damn bike with butler gloves...

Welcome to the world of black paint. I have my first and last black vehicle.
Bought it new in '77, still have it but would NEVER buy another black vehicle.
Looks great when its clean.

I have become addicted to Mother's Carnuba liquid wax. It smells so good you can drink it, and it takes swirlies away. It is SO EASY to use and the black pops after the application.

You knew it was dangerous going in. You can only do but so much with Vivid Black, other wise you will pull your hair out and if you are bald you will scratch your scalp until it bleeds trying to keep it perfect, but when its show room shine is working you can't beat it.

In post #10 I explained how I do it.

But it is indeed equivalent to pulling your hair out. But it works and gets compliments. Something to do on a rainy Saturday.
