Hate to hear it and glad he is ok and you for that matter. Get him his broken wing patch now. Will mean something to the both of you. How bad is the bike?
Ya its jacked up but fixable, bars are twisted, bar clamp twisted, risers both snapped, dented gas tank and rear fender, front fender trashed all front lights trashed forks scratched crap all kinds of things..i would say the frame is still perfect! It is a H-softail!
glad he ain't worse. i've seen videos of people going down and their buddy crashing right behind them. prolly tunnel vision or just too much ooh sh**! good thing ya'll made it through.
Yeah, target fixation sucks. We all do it at some point or another, there are videos all over youtube from it.
Glad to hear your friend is ok. Like everyone before has said - bikes can be replaced - your friends life can not. Hope it does not deter him from riding again. Either way - glad he is ok.
Well to put it very short my buddy and I were the last to leave the show(went with 7 bikes they left few hrs earlier) and we were riding close to 138 (straights and the 25 mph turns) and he didnt make on of the turns in front of me and it was awful, prolly about 50 mph,hes ok and is very lucky,he will feel it in the morning for sure!!!!! bike is trashed, friend came with a truck and we just threw it in the back and left! SuX And even worse to watch it!
Its crazy how one min your looking at a sweet bike and the next looking at it a whole different way! Same with the rider!!
You folks were coming off 138 from the west and turned left on Summit Valley Road? Or, were you coming from the east and turned right on Summit Valley Road? SH138 is a lot of fun from west to east or east to west with a bunch of twisties. What I don't understand is if you were 1/2 mile north of 138 on Summit Valley (the only way you can go) that road is pretty tame as it heads back towards the I15 freeway and then parallels the 15 until it ends at Foley. Was it the first turn or the second he lost it on? To me, the problem with any of the roads in there is sand. You just never know how much will be on any turn and especially after the Santa Ana winds come through.

Glad your buddy is OK. June 19th of last year I hit a deere at 65 mph lucky to live so I know how fast it turns from having a good time to a real oh shi# moment.
