Harley, New York Yankees & Ford Trucks are just some examples of things that people feel they need to go out of their way to give an opinion on. Chevy drivers have a need to tell you they think their truck is better, everybody needs to tell me how much they hate the yankees (New Yorker living in California)...it's the same with the jap **** owners. They have such a complex about their bikes that they would rather tell you whats wrong with HD then what's good about their ****...most of the time if they had the extra 5 or 6 grand they too would be on a Harley...
your right the first big dogs were built using allmost all harley parts................yes its an s & s motor, built really nice at 117 ci stock.and it may not be a touring bike but it is a soft tail and i can ride it just as far as any harley softtail, and ALOT of bike for the money.thats why i bought it, not for a name , not to be KEWL(lol) cause its what i wanted.none of harleys bikes compared $ to $.but i will someday when i want to buy a nice bagger prob. look at harleys.you guys get too defensive.harleys are cool for what they are.Im just proud as hell that my BIG DOG(in caps.) is nearley 90% AMERICAN made and your harey is aprox. 60% american made, go figure.
What I mean is a chopper was a way to remodel a standard Hog dresser back in the day. An old police bike or whatever had the "garbage" stripped off and chrome, etc. added. It was a street bike without a lot of potential for distance riding. Like a Harley softail, today. The more radical custom choppers like the Big Dog were made by owners, too, and were one shot deals. Now you buy them off the rack like a sportscoat. I would take the Softail just for tooling around the local AO for my money. Glad you like your Big Dog!
HD's are what I have always wanted for motorcycles, even with their known flaws. Even Mona Lisa had her imperfections. I see lots of different reactions to my HD's. Everything from pretty to HD's are junk. See more positives than negative reactions. It is interesting to hear the false bravado or the excuses for not owning a HD. I don't care what you ride, drive, or how you live--as long as it doesn't matter to me. When it matters we will solve my problem.

Enjoy what you ride, what ever it may be.I know you guys love your bikes and thats great.( i do also)I didnt mean anything by this back and forth stuff, just b.s.Like i said 10 times over, for the kind of bike i was looking for for the money BIG DOG was my choice, i didnt see harley offer anything to my standards.Had i been looking for a touring bike, then you guys would have been o.k. with me.cause i would of bought a electraglide or road or street glide.someday ill have one.just not now.i meant no offense to you guys, just thinking and typing. Its a harley forum, not big dog.but i think ill hang around and do some reading from time to time.Try not to get so bent outta shape, i was just giving my opinion, theres enough of those to go around.LOL

Here is an interesting article BikerNet had on the K-9. They flew into Wichita, picked up the new bike, and then I believe rode it to Texas and then up to Kansas City.
The article has lots of detail "on the road" pictures and review information, and from the detail pictures of the bike it looks very nice.... It might not be everyones cup of tea, but it looks like a lot of attention to detail went into the K-9.
What I don't get is the bias towards the V-Rod by traditional Harley riders.
The disdain "Bikers" show riders of the Rod is incomprehensible to me,
My Son-in-law was always a fanatic of the Rod and was a loyal Harley fan until he finally bought a used V-Rod. The way he was treated by traditional Harley bike owners was so pathetic he will no longer wear a Harley t-shirt. His fellow V-Rod Forum buddies feel the same way.
The whole concept of Superiority is ridiculous. If you can afford a specific bike great, but the idea is to ride. We are a different breed in the fact that we have the guts to go a different route from the norm.
"Ooh, a bike is so dangerous" is a comment for the wimps of the world, not us.
