I just checked the weather channel on line and it said Orlando will go as low as 27 degrees tonight. (1/21/09) It's hard for me to feel bad for the riders considering I'm stuck in NH so my bike is in winter storage and they can ride all winter ... however I still do. They're not use to this cold weather and i'm sure many aren't prepaired ... they must be freaking out!!!!!!!
I rode in this morning and only saw one other bike. You're right we are not used to this!!
Also a lot of riders just don't have the gear to do it!!! The bad thing is most of them moved here from the colder North!!
When I got to work at 6AM it was 31.

I'm about 30 miles west of Orlando and at 0600 this morning the thermometer was hoovering right at 30 degrees. At temps just below freezing I still see riders on the road. I don't ride in these temps mostly because I don't have all the cold weather gear needed to keep the frost bite from setting in. It doesn't get cold enough on a normal basis for me to have much more than jacket and gloves. But on th up side, it's going in to the mid 70s by the weekend.
I confess I'm a cold-weather wimp. Especially now that I'm retired and don't need to go to work each AM (typing this while sipping a nice cup of hot coffee and listening to the weather channel ).
One of my brothers lives in Florida has for over 30 yrs,we always get a kick out of him when he talks about 30 degree weather.Up here we take our jackets off in those balmy temps. It's all in conditioning, and our bodies tolerance for temp extremes. The wife and I have never liked real hot weather, add in high humidity, it borders on misery. The cold air just plain smells good to us.Wonder how our Alaskians are fairing?
