I still have the same boots that were bought back in the 60's,resoled just once. The most comfortable riding boots, for me anyway.Wellingtons,Easy on easy off.
+1 on the Redwings,I have 970 engineers, although yesterday I bought a pair of hunting boots and they came from the USA. LaCrosse. Great boots, lightweight and Goretex lined.

Can you get German army surplus stuff over in the USA? their boots are really good and over here cost about Ł20.00.
Remember, feet are like women.....you CAN get along without them, but you need at LEAST one to keep up with everyone else.
Look after yours.
My vote is also for the Redwings, USA made (at least last summer when I bought mine), comfortable on and off the bike and can be resoled. A lot of cheap boots are shot when they're about broken in and can't be resoled, just something to keep in mind. A $150.00 pair of boots will outlast several pairs of cheaper boots if properly cared for.
