I got one last year for our vacation and liked it. It is a bit heavy but well made, and it comes with a zippered pouch. It is loud and sensitive. It provides a little extra piece of mind when parked at a motel or hotel. If nothing else it will slow the thief down or make him choose an easier target. I parked where I could see the bike and hear the alarm from the room whenever possible. The alarm sounds if the bike is rolled or moved in any way. Every little bit helps.
Got one as well. When I first received it, I thought the alarm didn't seem all that loud. 2 weeks later a neighbours' kid had a party and one of his little s**t friends tried to hop on the bike drunk. That alarm is loud in the wee morning hours!!! The kid got a couple of slaps to the back of the head (the "what the hell were you thinking" type" before his escorted flight over the fence...
Ever heeard the phrase "urban crickets"? Unless you stay close enough to hear it yourself and do something about it, an audible alarm is a waste. People just ignore alarms, they won't get involved.
Pager alarms are great, but again, you have to be close enough to act yourself. Ain't nobody gonna do it for you.
Have one I used on a previous bike. They are great to slow someone down. I really like the alarm as it won't let you ride off forgetting to take the disc lock off.
