risers
Sometimes I can ignore the obvious if it is a day to day thing. I noticed on Monday while riding 03 Heritage that my mirrors were out of adjustment. About five miles down the road I still could not figure out why the mirrors had moved. I was sitting the same. My *** hadn't got larger or smaller and any vertical shrinking in my height hadn't affected the length of my jeans yet. After about 30 miles of riding and eating supper at a restaurant--we headed home. My mirrors were out of adjustment again. To end the story I figured out handle bars were moving but handle bar clamp was tight that left only vibration isolation pads on risers. The stock rubber pads were deteriorating and allowing bars to move almost one inch up and down. Stock rubber isolation pads have always allowed the bars to move some. Since I never push up straight up on the bars I never noticed the play and I expected them to give some when I pulled on them---they always have moved a little. Bought the urethane pads. A little more road feel transfered to the grips but I haven't noticed an excessive amount of added vibration. Went ahead and changed them on the wide glide also. I had seen a thread on here about the urethane risers transferring vibration but never thought to check my rubber ones for deterioration. Just a heads up.
