Never get that question. I don't ride the bike to work every day, probably 4 out of 5 during the summer.
Have had a few cold or rainy days where someone will see my gear and comment "you rode today?" They are a little surprised, that's all.
It's a 40 mile commute and I've had days that I rode 35 of it thinking the same thing.

I have two canned answers for that question. To people I like, I respond; "Yeah, right...". To the rest, I ask; Why would I do that?" using a fine combination of a dumbfounded glare and sarcasm to make them feel stupid for asking.

Anyone asking knows I just bought mine in late November and that there hasn't been a decent day to ride since. It's fuggin' Iowa for cripes sake.

I get asked that all the time. I figure it is the way they greet me, sort of like "good morning." Doesn't bother me. It sets us riders apart from the boring old people that just drive to work, then drive back home.

I get it every day, from the owner of the mill I work in,all the way down the chain of command.I get asked the same stupid question at the local store from people in there and even the clerks. It can be before or after a blizzard or whatever,it's the same old sh*t....."didja ride yer bike tahday???" Usual answer is: "of course I did"
I sometimes wonder if I have the only bike in the valley!!!

you guys are looking at this totally the wrong way. It's sort of like the everyday questions, "how are you" or "how ya doin". Nobody really cares, they are just trying to be nice and start a conversation.

And this can even go to that age old question where everyone answeres "if I have to explain, you won't understand". Maybe some of these people are asking because they dont' understand. Maybe they really want to know if you truly ride in the rain or snow.

Let me tell you, when I first started riding year ago in So Cal, I would NEVER ride my bike in the rain, who wanted to have to clean all that chrome!

But as I got older and started taking "trips" with other rider, I realized that riding in the rain is just part of the ride. And years prior to that, I would never had thougt that.

So maybe some of these co-workers (not all, we all have those idiots we try to avoid) are really trying to "get it" and see if riding in the rain is a reality.

But then I could be totally wrong and many of you (us) just work with a bunch of idiots.

Have a great day guys, the weekend is here!

Agree. I've never had anyone ask negative questions or say stupid stuff about my bike or my riding. In fact my boss bought me a very cool motorcycle wind mill for my bike shed, and others in my office always tell me tales whenever they see a cool motorcycle, or something on TV, or they will tell me, hey, so and so rides a Harley too, do you know him?

Just conversation. They like to talk about the bike.

We've got one guy here that rides a Harley besides me. He's brought me in a bunch of stuff too....hehehe He's happy because now he has someone to talk bikes with and go on rides. His wide likes to ride passenger, but doesn't want her own bike.

Just a couple of weeks ago. It was -20 outside( -35 with wind chill) and there is about 3 feet of snow on the ground. My bosses, boss who owns a V Rod ( but never rides it) asked if I rode in. I turned to him and said "yes... Didn't you?" Shut him up pretty quick.

No one ever asks me about riding. Actually, they may be, but my hearing is so bad, I'm not sure what they are asking me about.
