Default harley maps

I am looking at hitting part of route 66 on my way to NY and was wondering if the HD MAPS are worth it

If you're asking about the maps in the HOG atlas, then no. Pretty small print and not detailed enough to include many of the small towns. I take the atlas along only to be able to find a H-D dealer if I need one. Send away to the DOT for each state you're going to pass through. State DOT maps are among the very best you'll find, and they're free.

if you want to know which interstate to travel from state to state, and where the dealerships are? yeh.... but that's about all they're good for.
google "route 66" and you'll find plenty of good information. Then decide, if you intend to roar up the interstate, or cruise and check out the sights. Either way you go, each state's DOT has a web site, and you can get free maps, and free tourist/scenic highway maps as well

Stamping HD on something don't make it better. There's plenty of good maps out there. Wish I was hitting Route 66.

I used to truck this great country. The full-size Rand McNally can't be beat. The HOG map is actually a down sized version, and as has been said is not detailed enough.
