I've been there done that. Would like to spend as much time with her as possible. We will tour the Hill Country thoroughly once we get there.
She's only good for 300 miles a day. It is what it is.

I get to do 2 or 3 long road trips a year with my buddies, so I am satisfied there.

I don't know how your family works Night Train, but in mine, when Momma's happy, we're all happy. Simple as that.

When I want to experience 2 or 3 different type of rides on one trip, trailering is the only way to go for me. Can ride on the road with the cruiser.... fun but really ho-hum; get the KTM950 Adventure off the trailer and go ANYWHERE (almost) get the Ducati sportbike for gnarly twisty riding or just to let the inner hooligan unwind. Nothing on wheels beats the thrill and challengeof *****-to-the-wall off-roading, or just sightseeing remote areas.
Big plus is carrying lots of tools, tires and the availability of a spare bike or 2.
Don't mind sharing the rides with good friends as well.
Not trailering all the time is for one dimension semi-motorcyle weenies.

Why not a compromise? Take the wives along and have them drive chase with the trailer.

Yep, when I was married, Momma's happiness was way up there, too...but I've been single now for a number of years, it's all about Daddy's personal happiness, and I've gotten spoiled! You guys be careful, have a safe trip and have a good time!

What's the world coming to?
I live in Georgia so we're about equal distance from Sturgis as you. If we were to go, I would have to haul the bike because I really don't think there's any way wife could tolerate a ride like that.

Now if we were rich and didn't have time restraints, then it might be different story as we could take a week or so to get there and a week or so back. But we're not rich.

When we first started riding 2-up, we were on a Road King. First trip was about 400 miles in 3 days. Yeah, I know, most do that in a day or less(as I have done also). But this was 2nd bike we had and had never ridden on trips before. Plus add in we were on stock seat. The last 150 miles I was stopping about every 35 miles because her butt was killing her. Mine wasn't in much better shape. She apologized over and over. I told her I'd rather ride and stop every 35 miles with her than ride the whole trip alone and not stop. I've ridden back over to same area since alone and still would like her to be with me.

If it takes trailering the bike to make her happy and have her with you, I say "Have a good trip and enjoy it."

Same here. Not that she bitches or anything but I like for her to enjoy herself because then I can.

Are you talking about your trailer or your wife?
