Is MSRP out-the-door ('09 FXD for $11,999, all costs included in that price) a good deal, or should I try to talk them down further?

Dealer closest to me wants $12,999 plus tax, title, and license -- so the $11,999 lloks pretty good from that standpoint.

In defense of the local dealer, they do install an alarm on all their bikes.

Try to talk them lower. I got my '09 FXD with security for $11,500. Plus, mine's NOT Vivid Black, so that adds to the original MSRP of $11,999.

MSRP during the biggest recession in 30 years?? I don't think so. I got $1000 off MSRP when the market was hot in 2006.

depending on the area but if you are not getting $2000 off retail you should be looking else where

Add sales tax, doc fees, freight, dealer set up fees, license/registration fees, etc. etc. Your out the door price on that will most likely be over $14K, unless you can get the dealer to wave some of the dealer fees and/or come down on the price of the bike.

Good luck.

If it were me, I would try to talk them down more, at least another thousand off.

Like someone else sort of said, I was able to get $500 off the price of MSRP on my bike and a little over $1200 in accessorlies knocked off. The accessories were already installed but I did not want them anyway.

But also remember, the dealers don't do a lot of mark downs...... If they make a deal that you are happy with, that's all the matters. You can ALWAYS find a better deal, it just depends on how much time you want to spend looking.

Have fun with your new bike, when you get it.

You might do better, but if it's a dealer close to you, and they treat you right, it's a fair price. You might get it cheaper somewhere, but end up spending more to get it. Travel, missed work costs, additional costs etc... It's fair.

The dealer is about 10 minutes from me, they have been great to deal with, and that price was with all the extra costs (tax, docs, freight, setup, all of it) rolled into it.

dbalke,
If thats the best they'll do $ wise,,
have them throw in 2 oil changes, or a helmet, or what ever goodies you need,,
sounds like a good deal for a new big twin...
Just don't act so eager...
