Is MSRP out-the-door ('09 FXD for $11,999, all costs included in that price) a good deal, or should I try to talk them down further?
Add sales tax, doc fees, freight, dealer set up fees, license/registration fees, etc. etc. Your out the door price on that will most likely be over $14K, unless you can get the dealer to wave some of the dealer fees and/or come down on the price of the bike.
If it were me, I would try to talk them down more, at least another thousand off.
Like someone else sort of said, I was able to get $500 off the price of MSRP on my bike and a little over $1200 in accessorlies knocked off. The accessories were already installed but I did not want them anyway.
But also remember, the dealers don't do a lot of mark downs...... If they make a deal that you are happy with, that's all the matters. You can ALWAYS find a better deal, it just depends on how much time you want to spend looking.
You might do better, but if it's a dealer close to you, and they treat you right, it's a fair price. You might get it cheaper somewhere, but end up spending more to get it. Travel, missed work costs, additional costs etc... It's fair.

The dealer is about 10 minutes from me, they have been great to deal with, and that price was with all the extra costs (tax, docs, freight, setup, all of it) rolled into it.

have them throw in 2 oil changes, or a helmet, or what ever goodies you need,,
sounds like a good deal for a new big twin...
Just don't act so eager...
