Welcome to the forum, first get your MSC completed, get your license, then use the rental program to figure out what you like. And remember , you can changes seats/bars/controls to get better ergonomics

First question would be, based solely on looks, what do you like? Secondly, what do you want to do with it?

There is a lot of knowledge and opinions on here, but no psychics that I am aware of.

All kidding aside, I would have to agree with Crankster on this one. First it depends on experience. You want to stay within what you're able to handle. Second, once you figure that out, go rent what model fits your riding stile and see what's comfortable to you and then go from there. It's a big purchase so take your time, make sure you get what you really want. Good luck..

Agree with Crankster, get your MSF first. A lot of people start out on metrics as they're cheap and you WILL dump it. Better and cheaper to trash a metric than a HD.

Harley has a real good deal now on Sportsters. You Can get one now, get feeling comfortable and in a year or so if you want to move up trade it in for a full price trade-in on a larger Harley. Not a bad deal. An 883 ain't much more then a metric cost wise. Just my .02
