I will be blipping my throttle more often after reading this post, thanks for reminding me why I do it. I do not know if loud pipes statistically save lives, but they saved a throttle jockey on a metric from a major wipe out about two weeks ago when he came across two lanes of traffic right into my blind spot. If it hadnt been for the pipes I probably would have wiped him out. The guy was an idiot and it may have been a darwinian moment if not for his pipes. No I wasnt on a cell phone and yes I was looking for hazards (especially bikes).
What is the purpose of slamming the throttle open and shut while down shifting and sitting at stop lights....The only purpose I see or hear is another reason for cagers and non-bikers to dislike people who like bikes....damn is that annoying!
hey...if not for nothing else besides making sure cagers know I'm there, I do it in the hope that you're sitting at the light right next to me when I do let err rip!!!
What was that line??...."Here's a dollar, go buy a clue"
Cuz my damn tire is too damn skinny and I can't stop cuz I travelling to damn fast to stop on my skinny damn tire so I downshift and "Blip-it"....oh what the hell...I like the way it sounds too!!!!
Comming from a different generation than "some" of you, blippen at a light is no longer viewed as cool. Doin while ridden for some quality geer changin is alittle different, doin it to keep you bike runnin is different, but doin it at a light on your 06 fuel injected bike to feel cool does not mean others look at you as a bad *** or cool or see you at a red light? (which is what some have hinted towards). I'm not tryin to start any beef, just throwing out another view.
There is a reason why some things aren't cool anymore, things change. There is a reason they don't make cars with big huge gold birds on the hood anymore, its just not cool.
Too the blippers, blip on, its your bike. But you won't catch me doin it unless its for function.
I have to do it when my sporty is cold but I also do at lights sometimes if there is a hot looking guy in the car next to me! It gets a smile outta them! I like to do it going under an overpass too! Sounds really cool! And, like the one guy said, you have these people running these car with these boom boxes in them that will rattle your house windows when they drive by, so what's the difference!
