Hey I am a new rider in Ohio. Just curious if you wear a helmet, what kind style should i look for
It depends on what you want the helmet to do. If you want the highest level of protection, get a Snell & DOT approved full face. If you just want to keep the LEO's from messing with you, get a beanie and put a DOT sticker on it.
Lots of choices in between these two, just get what you think is right for you and don't worry about what anyone else thinks of it.
I very seldom wear a helmet, just my preference...they all make all of us look like "The Great Gazoo"...if your friends tell you that yours doesn't, they're just being kind, so please return the favor to them...that being said, I have a full face H-D that I actually like wearing on the highway at night...a 1/2 H-D and a skid lid, that I usually wear one or the other when I cross the bridge to WVa where a helmet is required...but as already said, every helmet and head is different and I wouldn't think of buying one without trying it on...just IMO
I also have a HJC full face .Got it last year when I first started riding also but would like to switch to a 3/4 for the summer months. Not to comfortable with a half.. Any other takers on this for the summer 3/4 vs. half for the summer.
Im wearing a Carbon Fiber 1/2 Helmet from www.carbonfiberhelmets.com 90% of the time, great helmet, very light and DOT approved, if its cold or bad weather I have a Shoei Full Face

I have a closet full of helmets. Look like a herd of turtles on the floor. If I wear a helmet it depends on why. Rain or cold --full face with shield. Required one for riding to work---half helmet. Club event required---usually half helmet. I am still looking for one that is smaller and lighter but haven't found it yet with the strap assembly I want.
