First I have to admit to stupidity. I wanted to get somme bugs off my windshield so I wet it down with water then I used like a sink sponge that had a scrubber on it that you might use on a Teflon pan. Even though its just a plastic woven scrubber it did a number on my windshield. A couple of dozen scrathes, not deep, but you can see them when riding into the sun.
Someone told me to spray on a clear coat and the scrathes would disappear. ???
I don't know anything about getting rid of the scratches, but when you do try using biker spirits detailer to get the bugs off. I get mine from HD and its a black and pink can. That stuff works great at getting bugs off. I use it everyday because of these stupid farm bugs and they are huge!!
If you can't get them out my son has a brand new windshield that he bought from harley for his 07 Wide Glide that was too short for him. He replaced the plastic with a taller one. I'm sure he'll sell the original one pretty cheap if it's the right size. PM me if you're interested. He still has it in the original box.
H-D makes a plastic polish for their shields. It works great because I used to use it on the lightbar of my patrol car to take away the cloudiness and remove scratches on it.
My bike was pretty pathetic when I bought it and I thought the windshield was toast. I used Mothers Plastic Polish on it and with lots of elbow grease it looked like new when I was done.
