Went riding on my 09 Iron on friday. Nice dayhere in VA so I figured I'd go to the dealership & grab a plate to put my post decals on. I live in Springfield and dealership is in Dumfries so I get off of I95 onto Rt 234. Three lane road and right lane very busy with people braking hard to go to gas station and McD's. Thought I'd do the smart thing and get in center lane to avoid that mess. Doing about 35-40mph and I get behind a full size pickup. Now I'm riding an 883 Iron, with my highbeams on, about 1:30pm bright sunny day. i notice the driver raise his head to look in mirror and looked right at me. I guess he didn't like my high beams on or something but he hits his brakes while light is green and traffic is moving. I swerve left so I don't rearend him and bump bars against an SUV next to me. Bars go hard right, bike tries to turn hard left, down I went. SUCKS BIG TIME!!!! No injury to me other than scuffed knees. Bike needs clutch lever, grip, maybe bars replaced, footpeg, derby cover, rear turn signal. Jackets scuffed on left sleeve & back & helmet needs replaced due to scraping. SUV has small dent in quarter panel so my insurance is taking care of all that. Drop the bike off thursday for estimate and repair. Service guys say overall quick glance does not appear too bad, so got my fingers crossed that it's all mainly cosmetic. Oh and pickup boy just took off after that crap and hauled *** away from there. good thing too as I had my Glock and probably would have ventilated his dumbass. I'll post pics later.
Hey dude, at least your still with us to ride another day. Personally, i say the majority of people at the wheel cant drive. Ride like everybody's trying to kill you, that will keep you focused. Dont use the GLOCK, or you wont be riding for a while!!!

I always hate to hear of a bike going down, no matter what the circumstances. I'm glad to hear that you are OK and that the bike aparently sustained only minor damage.
I obviously don't know you, and don't know your riding style or habits, and I'll probably get flamed for what I'm about to write, but I'm gonna write it anyway. It seems to me, that if a driver can wreck you at a relatively slow speed by just hitting his brakes, you may be following a little too close. What about all the other cars on the road that were "braking hard to go to the gas station and McD's." If they had "hit their brakes while the light was green and the traffic was moving," could they have made you crash too? Like I already said, I don't know you or your riding habits, but you may want to think about it a little bit. You may also want to re-think your last statement, because where I live (Florida) if you ventilate someone's dumb *** for hitting their brakes in traffic, you will go to P-R-I-S-O-N. I carry legally because I have the right to protect myself, but that right comes with some awesome responsibility.
I said it once, but I'll say it again, I'm glad that you're OK and the bike is repairable.
From my old bicycle days I have carried the thought pattern of cars are out to get me. Especially in the early spring when they haven't had to look out for bikes of any kind for awhile. I try to keep enough distance that even if they do something stupid, I will have room for a defensive move.
It is disturbing that drivers leaving the scene is getting more common all the time. Personal responsibility seems to have gone out the window.

I don't think any flaming is in order here. You came across respectfully and made a good point.
I'm glad that bolillo57 lived to tell this story and that he's ok. I don't drive with my high beams on because I know how much it pisses me off when I'm in my cage and somebody behind me has their high beams on. Usually an old man or lady.
Live and learn my friends.

Of course the last sentence in the OP's post had to bring out the libtards who have absolutely no understanding of facetiousness, and instead because they fear guns will jump out of holsters by themselves and go on rampages in crowded mall shopping centers, had to believe the OP was on the edge of literally blowing away an idiot cage driver.
