Thanks for all the replies. Your comments have been helpful. I'm very close to finalizing a deal on an 09 red Ultra. I hope to drive it home tomorrow. If I get it home in time I'll post a picture. It doesn't have ABS or Security but, neither did my 03. I can add the security but is it worth it?
I chose the 08' cause there's something about purchasing a first year with major changes like the 09's. I'm not saying there's something wrong with the 09's, just have seen many pitfalls with drastic changes. This I have seen in the automoive industry, heavy equipment industry and the electronics industry.
I rode the 09' and the 08'... didn't really notice much of a $5,000 difference either.
The 08's have the larger fuel tank, the newer design rear hub, ABS, and the ability to save a couple bucks on accessories from someone that didn't use it because it mounts to my year. Again, just my humble opinion/.02 cents.
I've thought about an '09 but the problem is I'd never be happy with it stock and by the time I replaced that horrible exhaust, chrome front end, painted inner fairing, new seat and a few other things that's another 5K on top of the bike. However if I didn't have my current ride, the '09's are already coming up used at about 20k with ABS another few months when the '10's are out they will be down close to 18k so if I were looking I'd just hold off a few months and pick up a used '09 Ultra with ABS for 18 which is about what I paid for my Classic new!
