I've found that my front's part of the dreaded Metzeller recall. I figured as long as I'm replacing the front I'd do the back. Do you follow the same guidelines as car tires. I ran the old Dunlops near bald. Thanks.
same as cars. best to replace front & rear together.
P.S. very bad idea running tires bald on bikes (a blow out on 2 wheels at freeway speeds scares the beejeezus out of me)
Google Millers custom parts and it's listed on thier site. It was also in the recall section of this months cycle world mag. I recieved no notification from Metzeller or the dealer that put 'em on. I just noticed the odd tread wear. Severe cupping and raised sidewall tread. They were great handling tires when I put 'em on but the rear wore quickly and now this problem. F-'em. Next change I'll be going with Avons. B.T.W. they were the Brazil manufactured.
As long as the tires aren't stored outside, they'll be good for years. I wouldn't change tires til you get to the wear bars, or see some kind of weathering on them.
And since front tires get as many as twice the miles as rear tires before wearing out, it's foolish to change both at the same mileage. You're just wasting good rubber.
