Valve Adjustment?

Valve Adjustment or Air Cleaner?
Adjusted valves today, runs strong but gets hot. I adjusted them to 3.5 turns with 24tpi threads on adjustable push rods. Is this too tight? Would tight valves overheat motor?

... and besides the valve adjustment, I did not reinstall the air cleaner cover for the test ride and it may have been breathing a little better. Would the lack of air cleaner cover make MORE heat due to being lean?

"Tight" valves could make them stay opened.
Did you adjust the pushrods because of noise or heat?
I think heat would be related to tuning.
