Yea it's the same here, but I have looked at the course they use and I am not sure I can twist the fatboy threw the cone swerve section looks pretty damn tight

I was worried about the cones too and I did hit one but as long as you ace the rest of it you can hit 2 cones (maybe even 3) and still pass. Just don't put your feet down.

You're only doing about 15mph through the swerve so you end up with a good amount of room. The U turn was a pain in the butt for me, I went out of the box on my second U but only got 3 points for it. One woman in my class put her foot down more than once and got 6 points but she still was able to pass and get her endorsment.

I am an a active MSF rider coach and several years ago MSF started allowing the use of ANY cc size bike as long as the proper wavier is signed. Now with that said the individual course sponsor MAY not go along and only allow their bikes. First day riding is hard on a large bike but doable if you are skilled, day 2 is much eaiser and portions of the range skills can be made larger (as in the ERC) so you can stay in the boundries. Each range activity last 20 -30 min, so I recommed tough out being "wadded" up and use their bike, it's really not that bad. Rather hurt theirs than yours! And again it is really up to the sponsor of the course and trust their judgement.

Laconia HD has riders edge, call 'em and see if you can use your bike.

Around here (North Carolina) you CAN take the ERC.... use your own bike, AND get a waiver for the DMV. You have to do the eval on your bike, and pass the class.

I wouldn't worry about the Fatboy.... If I can do the ERC on my Road Glide, and whip through the cones.... that little soft tail oughta do just fine.

Many of the MSF instructors around here have FULL size dressers, and when they demo the excercise, there's no excuse for anyone to NOT be able to do them

I agree with Abate1. I'm also a MSF Rider Coach and teaching a class in the morning.
I would check with your local MSF instructor and just see if you can get into the ERC, since it sounds like you have more than a few years riding experiance. The BRC is really hell on clutches and air cooled harleys that run hot. When I went to the Rider Coach course, which is ten days long my bike over heated a few times.
Personaly I would just take the DMVs test then get into a ERC when you can to sharpen your skill and hopefully pickup a few pointers. Like I tell me students when I teach, Im not the best rider in the world and dont expect them to be either.

After reading your original post and replies.

1. Your afraid you won't be able to fit on the 250s used in the class because of you size.
2. Your afraid to go to the DMV because you don't think you can weave the cones on your bike.

Man up, quit thinking up excuses, practice up, do one or the other or both and quit worrying about small stuff.

Yea I just need to go take the state test, I haven't actually tried to put the bike threw their course as they have it laid out in the parking lot of the DMV and only close of that area on days of tests I assume. I have looked at the spots painted on the ground though with my bike next to them and it just looks really tight. Guess I'll have to go find out.
