Default MSF in NH that lets you use your bike

So here's the deal, I am 34 years old and have been riding for about 6 years and I don't have a MC endorsement. I just have never gone to get it. I want to get it this year but also want to take an MSF course to do it. The problem I am having with doing this is that I am a BIG guy 6'5" and 350lbs and I know around here the MSF basic course has you ride little honda 250. I want to take the course on my own bike just for fit and safety as I don't feel as though I could comfortably or safely control a bike that small. So I have looked around and every place I can find so far says I can't use my bike to take the course. So I am wondering if anyone can make any recommendations. I live in Southern NH.

I don't think and Basic MSF course lets you use your own bike, I know the advanced rider course does but i do not think you get your license out of that one.

Yeah the advanced does let you use your own but you have to have taken the other courses first from what I understand and I am looking to get my endorsement out of taking the class. I just don't think at my size I can safely operate a 250 I rode buell blast once as a joke and it was hard to handle since I was so big on it.

Check out the HD dealers near you for their Riders Edge courses. They allow you to use your own bike.

^^^ What they said. Personally, I would MUCH rather do the course on thier bikes than on mine. Can't imagine doing the figure 8 box on my bike.

My local dealer has Buell's for MSF basic riding course. Advanced classes use your own motorcycles.

I actually just finished that course in Hooksett NH yesterday and was on a 250 Nighthawk. I'm 6'4, 225 and had trouble fitting on the bike they gave me to use. If you don't want to take the course I can tell you what the test consists of as well as give you the manual they used in the course. I am busy this weekend but sometime next week it would be easy enough to take care of, plus I wanted to go to the area where I did the riding on their bike and go through it on my own too. Do you know where the Tri-Town Ice arena is in Hooksett?

The course requires the use of a 500cc or less bike. Most course instructors will allow you to use your own bike IF it's 500cc's or less.
If they break these rules they could lose their certification as an instructor, so chances are your gonna have to use one of their bikes.
My MSF instructor broke the rules and let us use our own bikes, and yes I was able to do the figure 8's in the box on a Fatboy. He got caught allowing this in a later class and lost his training certification.
If someone drops their bike during the class, gets hurt, and word gets out that the bike was over 500cc's the instructor could be found liable.
It is a good class and very worthwhile.

Just go take the test at the MVD. The written test (actually it was on a computer) was only 25 common sense questions and the skills part took all of about 3 minutes. It was actually easier than what my wife had to do in the Rider's Edge course. At least that's how it is in Arizona.

Here in middle Tennessee, you can use your own bike if you want to. It's your choice..
