I think there is an image associated with the bike and a club. It has to do with doing what is right for you, regardless of how someone else "feels" about it or what they think you should be doing. To me, there is a freedom that I associate with riding a Harley - freedom to ride the way I want to ride, look like I want to look, to do what I think is right. And, as strange as it may sound, there is a bond between me and my bike - I actually go out in the garage and drink beers and smoke cigars with my bike, something I would also do with my best friend.

I remember a couple of war protesters screwing with the family of a deceased soldier during his funeral procession. In my opinion the only guys who did the right thing were a couple of bikers who went over and kicked the $hit out of the losers and then got on their bikes and rode away. If that makes them "1%" then sign me up and screw the rest of you who sit around smugly judging everyone else.

But other than that, good for you for riding with the Christian Bikers
Finally someone with ***** standing up to these disrespectful, ungrateful low life's.
I'm a member of the local hog chapter, joined about 6 months ago, I could take it or leave it, I really don't care what others think.

the sun was shining yesterday, day off, Ł22 on the ferry (about $30ish) because i live offshore, did about 250 miles then 3/4 hour ferry ride home. did'nt need hog or a club to tell me where i was heading. did stop off at my local dealer for a burger for lunch, in, food, out again. i work too hard for my money to spend a couple of hours hanging around while the sun is out. downside was salt water spray over the bike on the homeward crossing, and i hate the cleaning bit

My close friends are my club. One has been riding with me for 35 years. Another for over 20. Several others for over 10. My son has riden with me for 15 years. About a dozen more have had bikes for more than ten years that will get together with us for a ride. Friends are chosen very carefully for qualities that are admired and wanted. Why ride with someone you don't like or agree with. Life's short so you better find a way to enjoy it. Unless you plan on living forever on this planet like me and my riding friends.

Too many people would rather complain than step up to the plate and lead.

We have been a members of HOG for less than a year now. We joined the local chapter in July of 2008 at the request of a member that is both a friend and a customer.

I'm glad we did because there are a lot of seasoned riders and we have learned a lot, made a lot of nice friends and have been places we would not have found on our own.

Yes there were problems with the chapter but if you just let it roll off it's no big deal and the positives out weigh the negatives.

Well the new director this year really wanted to make a lot of changes for the better and he asked me and the wife to be joint activities directors because of our experience in starting a performance boat club and our experience with boating poker runs.

It has been a LOT of work but we have already had seven successful rides this year including a poker run that cleared over $600.00 for the chapter after expenses. I see a huge change in the attitudes of the members and our current member count is 165 which is about 30 more than last year.

Our chapter meetings are FUN and get things accomplished. We plan a ride after each meeting and we plan at least one QUALITY ride per month. We've already had two rides with over 40 bikes!

Not everyone can attend every meeting. Not everyone can make every ride. Not everyone likes every single ride. But we are working very hard to have something for everyone and we want the members to just have to some up and enjoy themselves.

I can tell you that the officers at our chapter are working HARD and it shows with the turnout, smiles and compliments we receive.

If all you are going to do is COMPLAIN then the chapter is better off without you. If you don't like the way things are going then step up and volunteer. Put your time and energy where your mouth is.

A club or chapter is only as good as the people involved. One bad apple will spoil the whole bunch.

We have one simple rule. NO ONE TALKS ABOUT ANYONE BEHIND THEIR BACKS.

Happy Riding
