Default Open primary woes

I have a Tauer Machine Renegade open belt primary. I have noticed that over time the primary is really chewing up the belt. After a long or even short ride quite a bit of belt residue builds up on the case. Is this normal?

If it is wearing on the edges you have an aligment issue. If you look at your pullys the front and back should show wear on different sides. Meaning if it is rubbing on the front right and rear left you need to loosten the tranny and align it corectly. Do your pulleys wobble? In the front between the pulley and the stator cover there should be a spacer and if not it may be the cause. Did you install it yourself? If so, I would pull the clutch, remove both pulleys and check spacers. Remove the inner primary, align the tranny, properly shim and reinstall the primary. When you reinstall the primary, put both pulleys on partially, install the belt then tap everything on with a rubber hammer. Remember the clutch basket is reverse thread and you will need a 3/4" impact to get it off and back on. I don't bother with tourque wrenches as you need some serious torque and the 3/4" will do the job.
