do what is legal, I do not carry and have no need to either. I am an avid sportsman and hunter. I have been to war and have no need to ever point a gun at anyone again, but that is my choice.
However, I do carry a telescoping baton, or a small thing of pepper spray.
As a side point, I disagree with the analogy of sheep or sheep dog. I could shot someone, I just have a moral code that says I would rather not kill someone. It does not make me some sort of coward or someone that has to carry a pistol to feel like a man. I am not saying everyone who carries a pistol is a coward, just I am not a coward because I do not.

Route 66 goes through Illinois - be aware, you cannot legally carry anywhere in the state. As a matter of fact, the way the laws are here, it is nearly impossible to carry a gun on a bike legally, in any manner. (i.e., putting it in your luggage or saddle bags might not be sufficient).
