+1 Bart. I've worn my ACC for 8-10 hrs at a time and it's like I'm not wearing a helmet at all. I've had two; the first one saved my pointed little head when I went down at 50 mph. I personally wouldn't consider any other helmet.
I really like the Head Trip helmets but at $190 a piece, am just wondering if anyone has found something very similar that isn't so pricey. I like how low profile they are. Just checking before I drop that kind of cash on one. Yeah, I know, my head should be worth it. I've been riding in a Fulmer half for the past three years but coming home from our latest road trip it drove me nuts. The padding has settled or something and it kept riding back on my head and cutting into my forehead so it's time for something else and I still want a DOT helmet. Thanks for any input.
Hey GG, just curious as to what you finally decided on? I'm currently looking at the ACC and a few others so just curious. Thanks.
I don't really know anything about Daytona Helmets, but I'm tempted to try them. I have a Nexl helmet and they went out of business. The only other I was interested in was Head Trip. Anybody else heard of these guys.
I bought a 3/4 Daytona helmet and thinks it's a waste of money.Cheap straps that I don't think under impact would stay fastened to the shell.
I don't like the side straps on my Head Trip but it was custom fit to my head by them and is comfortable as hell.Got mine for 160 cash from them at the shop in O-town.

I can't blame you.
My HCI DOT 100 Shorty at 40 bucks is as small and as light as the Head Trip. I'll never pay 200 bucks for a lid.
You could a military surplus helmet and have it painted. That's what the Head Trip helmets looks like. I can't imagine very comfortable with the inside lining in a Head Trip helmets has.
I think I must be missing something. I found a local shop that had the Head Trips, and I was excited to be able to try one on in person before buying. When I got my hands on the helmet, it seemed kind of junky to me. I was surprised because everyone speaks so highly of them.
I got an HCI DOT Polo and am very happy with it. Is it shroomier than an ACC helmet? Probably. But it cost $40 and is super comfortable and consequently the lining is very cush. It seems the jury is still out on if carbon fiber really protects your head any better than moulded plastic. I've got a carbon fiber riding helmet I ride my horsea in and it cost $60 instead of a $190. Have also heard that all carbon fiber is not created equal. I don't pretend to have all the answers so I opted for reasonable and comfortable.

I guess I will be the only one who will say that I find my ACC DOT uncomfortable. The strap chokes me and i just can't get a good fit. It has to be cinched down so tight so as to not lift off at highway speeds that I can only take it for like 30 mins. I swap out the included padding like a mad man trying to get the fit right, and I just can't. I literally bought another helmet because, even though it is smaller than my previous HD branded carbon helmet and lifts in the wind less, it's strap makes my jaw hurt after a while. I guess I am in the minority by a longshot, but just make sure to try it on before you buy. If I had tried mine on I would have passed. YMMV
I've got a ACC DOT helmet and love it. Got it here http://www.helmetshop.com/acc.html Free shipping. Mine is very comfortable even on long rides. They've gone up a couple of bucks this year, but a natural carbon one is $155 shipped!
