So I have a 1989 FLHS and I live in a small apartment with my fiancée and there isn't a close storage facility for my motorcycle. Currently I keep my Harley about 15 mins away in my parents garage. I was wondering if I can get anything else besides a disc and fork lock for my bike? I have both of those, I would have a chain but we have no poles in our parking lot. So if ne1 knows about some unique secuirty device or any suggestions please send them my way!!! thanks!

If you have an assigned parking space, get a concrete anchor and install it after dark.

I think I'd leave it where it is until I could find some sort of shelter for it,"out of sight, out of mind". Still no guarentees,if somebody wants it bad enough, they'll try anything to steal it..

Like the above poster said, If somebody wants it bad enough they will get it. At least you have the advantage of the Harley's weight behind you. I had a sportbike and put a disc lock on it, locked the handlebars, and put a cover on it but the theives simply picked it up and put in the back of their truck. All this in a supposedly high security, gated upscale condo. type community. It was all caught on video tape but five years later I still have not seen my bike yet. Some hobre is probably doing wheelies in Mexico wearing a sombrero screaming Living La Vida Loca right now on my bike.

I have found this to be the best security to date so far. It's only good at home though as I havn't found a way to bring her along for the ride. Shes 65lbs and 5 months old, will be a family pet and guard dog. My girls named HER Harley (go figure)

Chop.

Ask your apartment complex manager about your options. When I approached the property manager of my condo association about using a trailer as a garage he was skeptical but said he'd take it to the condo board. A nicely written letter explaining how easily a bike could be stolen and the aesthetics of a trailer vs. a cover that doesn't hold up won them over. Adding the tidbit about kids liking shiny things and the need to allow a bike to cool prior to putting a cover on probably didn't hurt my case.

The condo board granted me an exception to the parking policy and my enclosed trailer is parked across from the building and setup as a garage. The trailer has multiple discrete locks, and the bike is safely inside with the alarm set. It's going to take a lot of work for someone to steal it, and if they manage that without being caught.... well that's what the insurance is for.

Now all you got to worry about is the trailer thieves.
