That's engine braking and because your down-shifting the engine revs to a higher rpm causing the engine to rev up...

you're wrong
the undue wear is now on your brakes. plus -- now -- you sound less cool.

Your response was really unnecessary & depressing. It's late so perhaps I didn't grasp it all but you just killed the entire convo and fun of every rider from what I read. lo. If we made sure every last thing we did had a specific purpose and useful effect on the rest of the world we would NEVER have fun. It doesn't harm anything or help from what I read so who cares!!! It's fun and I love the sound of a Harley I have the loudest pipes I could afford and I like to show off what my hard earned money got me!!! I also like people to know I am on my Harley so please don't be careless and hit me with a car!!!!!!!! lol

Undue wear on my brakes from slowing down? I down shift and use my brakes. I just do not constantly rev my bike unnecessarily.

In my neck of the woods the communities and law enforcement are cracking down on loud pipes. They want to make it so you can't have anything other than original equipment for exhaust. Is that what you want? Just to sound cool and have that "look at me" thing going on!!??

I don't want that to happen, I like my loud pipes and want to keep them. As I said before, my bike sounds cool enough when I'm going through the gears. No need to attract anymore unwanted attention.

Well... I think a lot of people are confused... Hell I might even be confused right now...

I will say this though... about the only time I don't rev match is in a panic stop... You don't have to hit the rev limiter to rev match... sometimes its a blip... sometimes you bring the rpms up more slowly... when the rpms are right it will almost go into gear by itself... smoothe as silk...

In my opinion... if you put it in a lower gear before you rev... you have defeated the purpose of rev matching for the most part...

You guys do it the way you want... or not... but me... I know what works...
