What's it going on? I did my old Road King Classic and I think that would be waaaay too much. Probably more than I'd pay to do my Ultra also but I'm sure others will chime in.
I would think that also. However, from what everyone is saying, $400.00 is about the standard rate for putting on new cables. So maybe you're getting a deal.
$400 too high, $300 too high, heck for me, $100 would be too high, but then I do all my own work. You didn’t say what bike you have. However it takes about an hour to do the clutch cable. You have to take off the pipes in order to take off the tranny side cover and that might mean floorboards too for you or flaring? You “should” drain the tranny and refill when done. The throttle and idle cables will require to at least remove the tank bolts/screws and raise the tank. Then some amount of the air breather needs to be removed to get to the throttle housing.
Im in NY but doesnt that sound high for labor-only?
Labor at the dealer sometimes seems the expensive way to go, but for those unable or unwilling to turn a wrench, it might be the only way to go if you don't shop around. An independant might be less expensive.
My guess is the gas tank has to be removed to change the throttle cables and the exhaust has to be removed to remove the trans side cover to replace the clutch cable.
$300 may not be a deal but I'd say it's not a rip-off.
sorry guys, i have a 2006 fatboy! well, i did attempt to put the throttle/idle cables on myself, but with two babies i dont get much garage time anymore.
i guess i just wasnt expecting the price
once the wife hears what the bill is maybe she will understand why i need to spend time doing my own wrenchin'
