I'm short, somewhat beer bellied, and fairly un-handsome. I ride a bagger who noone thinks is handsome, but I can ride 1000 miles away from them faster than they can, and I think is handsome.

What are you in to? If you ride to get noticed, get that bike. If you ride for comfort, then ride that way. There's no wrong or right answer now, is there?

Like most other things in life, how you put your bike together is a compromise.

I put my bike together the way I wanted it to look, then added detachable saddlebags and windshield and a couple of different sized backrests depending upon the current need.

Lots of guys have convertable bikes; different seats, with or without windshields and backrests. Put it together one way for 2 up riding, strip it down for solo riding or load it up for long trips.

If you are concerned about the looks of your bike for yourself, that's fine. If you are concerned if other people like or are impressed by your bike, then are nothing more than a poser.

Customize YOUR bike how YOU like it and don't worry about what other people think. Just take a look at the photo albums on this forum. So many bikes look exactly the same.

Mix it up a little, add something unusual, something not many or nobody else has. If you just follow someone else, well I don't have to say it again.

Comfort is VERY important if you are a true rider. Nothing worse than going on long ride and being uncomfortable. Again try to get some of each, more comfort along with a look that YOU like and not many others have.

And the same goes for your clothes. Forget the a$$less chaps and fingerless gloves. Those are poser clothes, not biker clothes.

Whatever you do, rember the whole point is to have some fun and enjoy yourself. Oh, and of course ride safe and watch out for cagers.

Comfort. I get myself a good looking ElectraGlide. Maybe add a couple of things for comfort and a couple of things for safer and some nut and bolt covers to keep rust down. then I ride. usually 20-30K a yr and have for yrs. and I ride. even back in the 60s an 70s I rode sportys 15K a yr. so I ride.
I have built a couple bikes over the yrs so unusual dont mean squat to me now. I dont want the downtime to add on or customize, when I was young I liked to farkle and made alot of custom parts. but now I just want to ride. and assless chaps dont bind the ***** up so much so I often wear them in the cold weather. and fingerless gloves gives alittle softer grip yet keeps the hands cool so I wear them sometimes too, and I also got heated gear which is big and bulky and looks whatever, guess I'm a poser rider!!!
I usually ride alone cause there seldom are that many folks out who ride as long or as far as I like to ride. I want a low mantaince decent looking comfortable ridein Harley...

I think when you are younger you want to look cool and when you get older you tend to want comfort?

Comfort for me. I can't see much of the bike when I am riding it and really don't care much what others think of how my bikes look when they are sitting still. Looks and comfort both cost money and not being a wealthy person I could only opt for one.

DH !!!!!!! COMFORT, why else would you build a hardtail??? Geesh, dammt kids nowdays, jus' NO LERNIN'S whatsoever.

I tried building this one for looks, and it does "OK", UNTIL I sit on it, then the 'looks' go right out the friggin' window. SO this one is for SPEED!!!

BTW, IF it wasn't 'comfortable' (for me), I wouldn't own it, or ride it.

NOW, this one??? BOTH, BIG TIME
