Oregon is full of speed traps. In Medford for example, along Interstate 5 the max limit is 65. But there is a section where it drops to 60, just to catch people still going 65.
And the same in Eugene. Those sections of freeway are no different that the rest of the freeway except the limit drops.
A few years back the "people" wanted to raise the limit to 70 like it is in CA and WA (our north and south bordering states). The state officials voted against raising it.
After the meeting, the new media followed each official and everyone of them were caught on tape going aabove 70 mph on their way home, some as fast as 80mph.
Our government officials seem to think they are above the law.
Driving thru Oregon is beautiful but there is not reason to have a lower limit than CA or WA. Our eastern bordering state has an even higher limit of 75. Oregon is so far behind the times, we can't even pump our own gas. Our government officials think the people of Oregon are too stupid to do it themselves, and that IS the real reason. It's not to keep unemployment down like some people think.
Yep, I used to live in West Texas. I 10 speed limit is 80 from just nw of Kerrville to the El Paso county line and on I 20 from the Crane-Ward county line to I-10.
I'd rather run 60-65 and get 40-45 mpg, than run 75 and get 30-35, which happened on my Iron Butt run.
But here in Mn we don't have the wide open spaces like a lot of states. I have to drive 50 miles to find a road with a speed limit higher than 60, and then I'm in SD.

.
I don't care what the speed limit is, most SUV's run 10 - 15 over and are willing to kill anyone in their way. I try to run where I'm not coming up on or getting run over by another....
Ride like ya feel has always been my deal. 35 years and I'm still good. I reckon something's working for me
And ya know, when it was 55 nationwide the cops were everywhere! Now, they running 20 over and only flip the lights if you're in the way or you're drinking or god forbid - have no seatbelt on in ya cage
second all that t150vej
i hate the way trucks gotta run 5 under than everyone else.all that does is create more problems.
theres some roads in texas the speed limit should be 180 instead of 80.
