I personally am glad to see that some people still went to the rally and simply avoided the CITY of MB. I had to work and could not go. What people fail to realize is that if the boycott the rally in total, 1) they hurt the rest of the Horry county businesses that welcome us, and 2) the ****-ant mayor and town council of MB city WIN, and they stop a rally that they had very little to do with in the first place.
you are right, boycotting the rally and hurting the businesses in Murrells Inlet, Surfside and N. Myrtle Beach, all of which hung out banners saying "welcome bikers" because of the mayor and city council of MB is not right, and makes no sense. in fact, it is counter-intuitive, as it is exactly what the city council wanted, for the bikers to stay away.
I enjoyed the rally, but not one dime of my money was sepnt in the city. Everyone I talked to at the rally felt the same. I spent my money wher I was wanted, and the bars and restaurants outside the city definately wanted all the biker business they could get.
Had a group of friends down there so I decided to go Friday afternoon, Got into MB about 8pm and at every intersection I saw a bike pulled over. We stayed in North MB and had a good time with friends. Never once did I go into the city limits. I will say that having been to Daytona many times in my life, MB sucked. They call that Bike Week? Anyway, I know they did it to themselves and got what they wanted. I will never go back again, it was terribly lame. Should have gone to Smokeout. my 2cents
