I am not spending any of my money in Horry county or Myrtle beach anything. There will have to be a genuine change of opinion there. Too many other places want my dollars. Showing up, while spending money there is no protest---it's called *** kissing.

It was a great time even though it was boycotted and the numbers were lower.
I must say, I expected more from US HD riders! I would have though that the place would have been flooded with riders and places packed outside the city limits of MB. But i was severely disappointed when I didn't see mass numbers. We let the city of MB win! They wanted less numbers and they got it! Why let jack-holes in political offices tell us what we can and can not do! If they didn't want us in MB city, then we just don't go! North Myrtle, Murrels Inlet, Surfside, Cherry Beach, and everywhere else welcomed us with smiles on their faces!
Next Year, let's make such a load roar outside of the city of MB and show them what kind of revenue they are missing!!!!
Will be back in the fall! It's not *** kissing it's called telling MB City to F-Off we don't need you and can still have a good time. I'm not going to cause the good folks that want us there in Murrels Inlet to suffer, it's not their fault Rhodes is and idiot. Only time a cop got onto me is when me and two other buddies showed up at SBB at 4:30 a.m on rev limiters in the middle of the bar riding through the actual bar in the front and down the ramp by the burnout pit. Even though the cops smiled and said "You know folks do sleep around here". They were good sports and we really shouldn't have done it but the few bar goers loved it except for the lady that climbed on the bar cause it scared the heck out of her! We had a blast and will go back for sure. I'm not going to let Rhodes ruin the fun for me and the rest of the biker loving business there. One apple can't ruin the whole barrel in this case!
Thing is , most of the golf courses are outside of MB so the fine people still have to drive through us to get to the driving range. Ill still go, just not in MB city limits.
I SO enjoy laying on the horn when I see a guy getting ready to swing. The reactions are great sometimes.
I usually go abut 3 times during the summer months and spend a average of about $5k not including motel room/campground costs. This year we decided to rent a house on the gulf coast of Florida and the outer banks of NC. We will not vacation in the Myrtle beach area at all. I don't think that the mayor or city council took into account that alot of the bikers also vacation there at other times of the year and not just bike week. I can't be the only person that feels this way and if I'm removing 5k plus from the economy, well you can do the math.

Well, us good bikers are paying for the few bad ones, right? I decided to use the same medicine and stay home this year. The good municipalities pay for the bad one(s). We'll see who wins. So far, I have the choice of going elsewhere. Myrtle Beach will go nowhere, much less without our $$$.
Been going to MBBW for the last 5 years and yes the numbers were way down. Having had the opportunity to meet the owners of some small bars and restaurants over the years it hurt me to see them financially effected by the numbers. Myrtle Beach City is a small part of MBBW. We rarely stop there anyway rather staying up north or taking 31 down south. I certainly am not going to miss going down and seeing friends and people I like because the city of MB does not want bikers. I talked to many many businesses and they want the bikers. Tons of signs saying welcome bikers. I heard that North Myrtle was considering closing off Main St next year and doing their own thing. Not sure that is true but all in all noit going to the rally to prove a point to Myrtle proper does not make sense. Just don't go into Myrtle and do support the businesses outside.
Have you ever gone to a rally and not seen tons of trailers? I also don't think you guys are going to bankrupt MB. Have they already released the financial numbers for the week? Can you point me to a place that says they lost millions?
I have never understood why motorcyclist want to go to the beach for a rally in the first place. They have absolutely the worst roads for riding in the two Carolinas. Daytona I can understand because of the races, although the trailer queens don't even know the race exist. But MB, why go there when you can go to the mountains for some real riding? I guess the trailer queens can't find trailer parking and a bar on every corner in the mountains?

This was me and my friends 9th year in a row for the spring rally. We stayed in NMyrtle. We rode thru myrtle beach on the way to surfside and murrels inlet. Man what a ghost town for bikes. I have never saw so many empty restaurants in myrtle beach during bike week. Broadway at the Beach was just as void of bikes.
Crowd was down to about fall rally numbers. Either way we had a great time. N Myrtle and the beachs south of MB prospered.
Once the bean counters in MB start looking for the normal may revenue they will be shocked at the total figure. I would say the 99% of all bikers didn't spend a dime inside the city limits. GOOD! That is the only thing they will understand ,"money"........
I am willing to bet that in the not to distant future MB will be bending over backwards to get us back inside the city limits, kinda link Daytona learned their lesson a few years back.

I personally am glad to see that some people still went to the rally and simply avoided the CITY of MB. I had to work and could not go. What people fail to realize is that if the boycott the rally in total, 1) they hurt the rest of the Horry county businesses that welcome us, and 2) the ****-ant mayor and town council of MB city WIN, and they stop a rally that they had very little to do with in the first place.
