Indianapolis area laws state that a cycle cannot go on the Red if it doesn't change. They are to merge back right into the regular traffic lane. Doesn't always work, of course, but that's their advice.

I recently installed the highest power "magnet" device that is supposed to help. So far I haven't had a problem, but I know of one major intersection that wasn't working for me before, and I'll ride to it next week and report back

I have two bikes, an Electroglide and a Sportster. The big bike probably has enough metal on bottom because I never had a problem. But I used to get stuck at certain lights. I asked about it on this forum which started a big thread. There were two pieces of advice:
1)Stop right on the lines of the cutout on the road and
2)Put the kickstand down (just for a second, you can bring it right up)
I started doing both at all lights and never had a problem since.
As far as the law is concerned I retired from the NYPD and never heard of any such rules in NY. However I would think if you got pulled over and explained it to the cop, 99% of the cops would let you go. There's always that 1% though. (Just like bikers) But I would hope if you did decide to go after 2 cycles you'd make sure there weren't any radio cars around.

Here's an article about it:

I live in KY too (Lexington) and have this problem all the time, even with my bagger. I just go through the light after one cycle. What else can you do, sit there all day? Last weekend we had two baggers side to side and it still didn't trip the light.
