Default Danged traffic lights

How many of you have run a red light because you sat thru several light cycles and decided that it didn't know you were there? I'm geting tired of waiting/hoping that a cage will come to my rescue and trigger the light.

I saw, in another post, some kind to device you attach to the bottom of your bike to trigger a green signal. Does anyone know if it works?

How do you handle the danged traiffic light that makes you sit and sit?

Just prior to my accident last year I was stopped at a light for what seemed to be forever, there was no other traffic in the area and I sat there debating if I should go thru it when finally it changed. Well I made the turn and proceeded to get involved in an accident. A woman in a van made a left right in front of me to go into a farmers market. Now, I know this is would have, should have, could have but ifit hadn't been for that light I would not have been at that precise spotat that moment. You never know what is in store for you or what could have been, only if!

Streetrunner, you are so true. If the light had turned on time, I figure you would have been long gone before the van lady showed up.

wisconsin just passed a motorcycle friendly law this year allowing motorcycles to proceed through a red light if the light does not change for the motorcyclist.

RANDIT, I think ABATE in Ga is trying to do the same thing. I don't think it has happened yet. But I hope it does.

I'm in NC... I read on this forum in the last few days where someone said NC had passed a law making it legal for a cycle to turn left on red. I haven't seen anything about it on the news, and don't get the paper except on the weekend. Some lights I trigger, some I don't... so I usually wait through at least one cycle to see if it's going to change for me, or not, and see if a cage will roll up. If, after that, it still hasn't changed, I'll run the light when no traffic is coming. I try to wait for green, for safety reasons, but sometimes you just have to go on redanyway. Always try to stay cool and patient, though. You don't want to get antsy and impatient, and make a mistake........

I run them after a "reasonable" amount if time. I ride sober so I don't think I will get a ticket if stopped (fingers crossed).

btefft, I'm surprised you have trouble with your rig not tripping lights. I've had one problem with a certain light on my metric (plastic) bike, but haven't had that problem yet on my EG. Your ride is almost as big as some small cars!

I agree Taterdog. Most of the time I have no problem. But there is one light in town that I get when I am in a certain left turn lane that ignores me. Luckily its a two lane turn and usually a cage will pull up beside me. Late the other time it seemed like I had the road to myself and I finally ran the thing. It is a bothersome thing to me to run a red light - I just don't like to do it.

You mentioned your plastic metric. The sidecar body is fiberglass and weighs about 185 lbs. So, I'm not sure if the hack helps me trip the lights.
