Blackfly, if you do a search you'll find lots of good suggestions. Too many in fact. I asked a while back and sill have'nt decided on a lightweight set. I did however bought a rather pricey set of FXRG leathers though. They're waterproof. Got caught yesterday in rain and 40's and was quite comfy.
After years and years of getting wet, leathers and trash bags don't get it, I went out and bought a set of First Gear rain jacket and pants..little pricey at about $120.00 for both, but they are worth it..don't skimp on cheap rain gear, that is something that when you need it you want it to work.. nothing like being 1200 miles from home on a friday and you need to work monday and it is going to rain for the next 3 days, then you need a good set of rain gear, don't forget your feet, I use Totes for over shoes when I'm going on a trip, otherwise my boots are good enough for a 50 mile ride home.. The trash bags are ok if you use them under your leather jacket, and if you really need to you can put little plastic bags over your socks and under your boots, they will keep your feet dry. as for gloves, get a pair of rain gloves from a dealer or, you can get a cheap pair of dishwasing gloves with cotten glove liners inside of them, and your hands will be dry also.[sm=biker.gif]
ALL rain gear is easy to use if you put it on BEFORE it rains. Seriously, the best stuff has Gore-Tex......you usually get what you pay for. Two-peices are always better than the one-peice suits. An inexpensive, packs small, kinda ugly, very good rainsuit is made by FroggToggs.
Dealer had a 25% off sale going on so I bought the Harley rainsuit. Keeps me dry and rolls up fairly small. Never would have paid full price though. At 25% off it was still expensive.
I finally went with the Harley suit. I shredded several before I made the plunge into Harley prices. But, I got it on sale at 25% off. Still high, But it's a great suit.

I'll throw my 2 cents in for the rain suit by Frogg Toggs. A group of us made a ride over the Top of the World Highway and through a chuck of Canada last summer. Rained 7 out of 8 days and the Frogg Toggs were great! They dry out quickly and pack up small in their own bag.
