I know I paid it, non-negotiable, HD makes no mention of it when posting MSRP.
What do they do, check the air and oil? Put on a seat? Adjust the mirrors? Program the alarm or 'puter? Smoke and mirrors? What, do these bikes come only 1/2 built? What did I pay for again?
Just curious.
ETA: I know this was a $1,200 job they discount heavily to show what great guys they are.
That is how they pay for the free leather coat and helmet they give you with the bike...

....if u've bought a bike, u've paid the doc fee. Might wanna check ur paperwork, podge. It's regulated down here state side and most have limits on the maximum allowable amount but if a dealer charges one person the fee, he has to charge the rest.

Sorry but it's unavoidable.
They have you fooled then. yes you can buy a bike without, freight, set up and doc fees charged on top of the MSRP price, I did. yes I have paper work for it and can add. it's not rocket science.
face it when they make 6K on the bike they can afford to not charge you for those other things, shop around and as mentioned get the out the door price.
I'm on my first used bike so I have no experience negotiating with a Harley dealer. But I was a Finance Manager and Sales Manager in the car business for 4 years. It is always best to negotiate an OTD price. Everyone "pays" the doc fee whether it's added to your final price or not. It's illegal not to charge it to everyone. And....it's pure profit. We used to joke with people that the doc fee helped to pay the fuel bill for the owner's jet. If you get a final OTD price, it includes their doc fee, the salesman just doesn't get paid on it.
