My thoughts exactly. I am glad I am not the only one who thinks so.

The 92c was kinda odd looking with the tall OHC engine kinda out of proportion in the traditional frame. But the new 'customs' work for me. The tank and entire chassis kinda work around that tall engine and some of the details and features are cool.

I'd take one of the new style Victory's ahead of most metric's and at least they 'aint HD clones like the failed Indian effort. They got their own thing going on which is a good thing.

I was wondering if I was the only that doesn't like them. There is nothing about them that I like, I can't get over their looks enough to even want to ride one.

I couldn't agree with you more. They are the ugliest looking pieces of metal ever assembled IMHO. I would rather ride a moped!!!

Too modern looking for me....I'd get a vrod first.....plus I'm spoiled by having 7 dealers around here. If one pisses you off you got 6 more to go to. That in itself keeps them in line.

Personally i think they look great, they get TOP reviews in all the motorcycle mags and it's 100% made in America! (The ONLY bike made 100% in the USA) I'm not going to buy one ... I want a new Harley, PERIOD ... BUT I think it's great there's a new ALL AMERICAN made motorcycle on the market. Who knows, maybe someday HD will once again make all their parts in the good old US? One thing's for sure ... having Victory motorcycles around will assure HD keeps on the road they've been on the past several years. Making not only BEAUTIFUL bikes but bikes that run as good as they look and that sell at list rather than the inflated prices of only a few years ago. Competition in the marketplace is ALWAYS a good thing for we consumers ... god bless them! Now ... I've GOT to get me a new Harley!!!!

You're dead on with this post! HD has sliped into that globalization channel and it will only get in there deeper and deeper with their new deal with China.

One thing that truly upsets me is that a ton of US companies would kill to make decent 'timer and derby covers' and other OEM aftermarket parts for HD. It kills me to see made in China on many of these parts. Look at the decimated textile industry in this country. Would it kill HD to produce their motorclothes in this country? You would think a company sensitive to the importance of producing products in the USA would spread the wealth here in this country.

I have a neighbor who has a Victory "touring" type bike and he loves it like no other. It is a nice bagger with gobs of power and cool lines. Hopefully, Victory's customer service will be better than HDs, which shouldn't be too hard based on my experiences with HD.

I love my Heritage, but really dislike HD's attempt at customer support/service. After a 4 month fight over a fit & finish issue on my (then) 6 month old Heritage, HD has finally decided to repair my bike under warranty. This was after I got the Better Business Bureau to mediate the issue and finally making a threat to turn the issue over to my State Attorney General. I was not having problems with my dealer, but HD of America... The company... These are the guys who are making huge annual profits off of us, but told me to go pound sand over a legitimate warranty claim.

Now to the point of my rant (sorry!!)... Hopefully Victory will continue to catch on and give HD a run for the money. Stealing some market share from HD will be a good thing in several ways. First it will make me chuckle when HD realizes they actually have to treat the customer properly and it will make the market more competitive. In turn, a more competitive market will benefit us with better products and more value for our $$$s. Capitalism at work...

Maybe my next bike will be a Victory. Their customer service can't be any worse than HDs!

Edmo
so... not to hijack the thread or anything... If you think that going to Polaris is going to get you better customer service... You are NOT going to be happy. I have one of their ATVs... And CycleCycles hit it right on the money... For the longest time their QA sucked. They made really good looking/functional products but it was the little things that killed them. Stupid things like cheaping out on hose clamps for the oil lines... I was out riding (not riding hard) and the hose blew off the oil tank... next thing you know I am wearing hot oil and the engine looses all of it's oil. The engine didn't suffer too bad but there were some friction issues. Took me FOREVER to get them to cover it under warranty. And then eventually a TSB came out about it.

And before you say that HD was screwing you... take a long hard look at that dealer you went through. For a lot of warranty issues the mocos take the word of the dealer on incomming complaints. If you do not have a dealer that is acutally fighting for YOU, you are totally boned. This may not be your case, Edmo, but I have seen it with cars and other bikes. The dealer smiles and tells you how much they are fighting for you with the MoCo but as soon as you walk out the door they are working AGAINST you with corporate.

Of course... your milage may vary.

Customer Service will NEVER be a deciding factor for me when buying any sort of Motor Vehicle... Customer Service in this country is so polluted by the legal system that it is hard to get good service with ANYTHING this days. (Trust me... I work in CS). Um... I can help you... but if I do then our legal department says that I am admitting fault for the company and that would make us loose money... So if I help you I have to help everyone... Granted... it would have been better to NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH.... but today it is all about what costs less. If fixing it costs more than settling lawsuits it just is not going to get fixed.

Now as far as the Victory Motorcycles go... I think they are cool looking. Thumbs up for the American Made part. But I am one of those Poser Harley guys that you have been reading about on the forums the past few days. I wanted a Harley... I got a Harley. Never want anything else. Hell... I was trying to figure out what my next harley was going to be a month after buying the first one. =)
