Looking to mod my seat a bit and find a supplier for memory foam. Found a few online but can't speak for quality and pricing. Has anyone bought any before online and recommend a supplier?
Turbo, would 'gel' be the same as 'memory foam'??
There is a lady upholsterer (sp) who does old cars and was gonna redo my seat, just haven't gotten it to her. One of my original ideas for it, was to use gel, but it only came in 'packets'/cells/ whatever. She found trimmable/cutable gel, from a co. in Utah, I believe.
It is open cell, and has been used for decades as a seat pad material in wheel chair seats.
Not sure of the cost, right now, BUT if you are at all interested, would be willing to give Sharon a call, and see if we can track it down, again.
Post here or PM me.
Hope this helps.
I know meancity does the mods...they don't sell the foam seperately to my knowledge.
Memory foam is not the same as a gel pad...memory foam is the stuff that tempurpedic beds are made out of and the stuff used my NASA for the space shuttle seats.
You can buy memory foam bed pads at most stores like WalMart, KMart, etc. They are pricey, but you'll get a piece 6' long and about 3 feet wide, and about 1 1/2" thick. My lady sleeps on one.
I, too, think a gel pad is better. The memory form you can squeeze flat, and used in a seat, with most of your weight on it, I would think that is what it would do. The gel pad cannot go flat.
