No, it's because they don't LOOK kewl to some people.
After 46 years on bikes, I can truthfully say that nothing is more fun than zipping around on a small scooter. But, my motorcycle has to be ready to go anywhere, anytime, at highway speeds. Some friends just returned from a coast to coast run. They left in a subtropical storm and rode with it for a couple of days. They also hit sleet, snow, hail, desert heat, and mountain cold.
I don't want a scooter windshield. I don't want my bike to be without one.
I think that's going to be my next purchase. The detachable stuff is a great invention. Best of both worlds. I wouldn't mind seeing what it feels like at 80-85 and not having the wind kick my azz. And getting hit in the face at highway speeds gets old!
I beg to differ there sport. I ride fine sans face smacking by bugs, and especially june bugs and bumblebees; or snacking on them and prefer it that way. You masochists just keep doing your thing.
I dislike how they look thats true. but for me once you start adding windshields sissy bars highway bars, floorboards, lugguage, air ride, stereos. You're not riding a motorcycle....its a two wheeled convertable. Thats MY PERSONNAL view. I don't give people that have that stuff crap but you'll never see me with it all and I tour just as far as the rest of you on my Sporty with a stock seat and no windshield. There's nothing like hitting a wall of gnats at 75 and not being able to see out of your Ray Bans
I can't stand the "buffeting" that is created when useing a windshield. No matter where it seems to be mounted there is some buffeting from the wind. In all the years of riding I've never needed a windshield and don't see a need for one in the future.
My windshield reduces 'buffeting' by about 75%...reduces bugs by about 95%...what planet do you ride on?...:>)
