I dislike how they look thats true. but for me once you start adding windshields sissy bars highway bars, floorboards, lugguage, air ride, stereos. You're not riding a motorcycle....its a two wheeled convertable. Thats MY PERSONNAL view. I don't give people that have that stuff crap but you'll never see me with it all and I tour just as far as the rest of you on my Sporty with a stock seat and no windshield. There's nothing like hitting a wall of gnats at 75 and not being able to see out of your Ray Bans
Touring on a 'Sputster'?...you are 'de man!!!'....(how often does your mommy let you ride her bike?..:>)
I have been riding a dresser for twenty five years and a windshield is the only way to go for me.I dont wear a full face helmet so my wind and bug/rock protection is covered, I love windshields
My sig pic was taken on the road to sturgis. I can do an Iron butt every week on this bike if I had the time. And I always ride with my windshield. See it? It rests on my nose and ears, I prefer the smoked shields for day use and the clear HD slicks for night. Takes just a sec to swap them from my fork bag. Also diagnosed with the spine of a seventy year old man at the age of 19, 25 years ago. I have a bad day once in a while and cant raise the bike off the stand. But I try to keep THEIR diagnosis way in the back of my mind. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
Who knows, who cares! We are supposed to own and ride our machines for our pleasure only.No way are you going to make the rest of the world happy. It is amazing how much better life can be not worrying about the next guy.

I still have my sporty and love it....and with 19k on her she's probably seen more touring than your ride. And I just can't imagine being hit by bugs while riding...the nerve of them little bastards...and someone please explain how a windshield keeps you warm in the winter....I mean if it's 20* out it's cold no matter what side of the windshield your on

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
My first trip and last to MB I had the winshield on from Southern MD to MB. In and around MB I took the shield off to ride around. Boy was that a mistake I didn't care for the constant force on my head and chest not to mention felt like I was being sand blasted as I road to and from different vendors.
When I wash the bike I take it off and like the way a RKC look with out it. I thought I would try again on short 40-60 mile rides around the area. I was not 5 miles from home doing 45mph the wind noise was in the ears was not to my liking. so I thought I try some ear plugs ( I really like the look without the shield) that made feel like I was in a bottle now able to hear anything around me.
I am still trying to find a combination so I can ride without the winshield, next is a full faced helmet. But for now it's with the winshield since it's riding season and that means long distance rides the winshield stays with the bike.
