Can hardly think of anything I would rather do LESS on my air cooled Harley, than going to the middle ot Texas in the brutal summer heat and idling in a huge traffic jam of about a zillion other Harleys. Now if they would do it in the spring or fall....
Agree with Centerline. Went last year and it was a scorcher for sure. Got caught up in traffic and it was a nightmare sitting on top of a blast furnace.
Just stay off 35 and what ever you do, do not ride in the parade from the rally to 6th street. My bike has never been hotter. Barely ran, woudln't shift, crotch on fire. Scared the crap out of me but the bike survived.
But the rally is a blast. Great bands, great vendors, lots of topless women after dark. Some you want to put their shirts back on but like the comedian Ron White says, " Once you have seen one breast,....you pretty much want to see them all." There are some great rides and destinations. Lukenbach always thows a good party for the bikers. If you go, stop in Blanco at their Lavander Festival in downtown. The old ladies are as sweet as they can be to the bikers and it really freaks out the normals. Carlos and Charlies on Lake Travis is a nice destination as well. People ride up in their boats. One word.....bikini's. 6th Street is always a big party. Especially Friday night, but like I said, avoid the parade at all costs
Anybody have any other suggestions on places that are a must to stop by while at ROT?

Ya just stay off 35 and its not bad .... but last year i think we had 100+ temps which did suck.
I’m heading out Wednesday morning from Oklahoma City. Really excited! My first really big rally. I used to live in Austin and can’t wait to get back to visit all my favorite eateries and check out the beer selection from the Austin area.
Going out Thursday on the Devil’s Backbone out to Luckenbach and then hitting the Salt Lick on the way back.
Five days of tent camping in the heat is likely going to kill me….LOL….I’ll be hitting a air conditioned bar if I need to.
Never seen Hank Jr. either and I’m excited to see him too!
