I wear a leather jacket of some kind always. My mesh is from Draggin' Jeans (Co. also makes kevlar lined blue jeans) and it's comfortable. The thing is if you go down, best to have a jacket on .02

I purchased the switchback from HD. Its great! The mesh offers about as much protection as possible for that type of material. Needless to say, it's enough protection and it's extremely comfortable to wear. It doesn't look too bad either. I mean, you're not going to shake your booty down the runway wearing it but it's fashionable enough. Plus there is reflective material on the mesh part.

Thanks for all the testamonials! I'm sold! Here in the Red Hot Heart of America (Oklahoma) we have some torrid Summers with high humidity. I have a "lightweight" leather jacket that has zippers all over the dang thing for ventilation, but it is still a miserable thing to wear.......I'll keep it for Spring and Fall.

Chalk up another vote for Field Sheer. Leather is just too hot for a Virginia summer, and I refuse to ride in just a t-shirt. I shopped around and found a mesh Field Sheer jacket with CV armor in the shoulders, elbows, and back that I know keeps me cooler than just a t-shirt. Shades the sun off of my bare skin and all those little holes act like little vents to funnel the wind in. I've never resorted to wetting my t-shirt under the jacket yet, but if it gets particularly hot, I'll try that next. I went with Field Sheer because the quality seemed just as good as anyone elses but the prices were significantly better.

Here's my reply to my own question... LOL!

I'm in Texas and was concerned. I did about 75 miles yesterday in it. Temp was hi 80s. It was fantastic. At one point I had to feel my chest because I thought I left it unzipped. It was a very cool ride, and even a slight breeze will pass through it when sitting at a stop. And it breaks the wind burn. I am a redhead with light skin and the sun and wind can tear me up. This jacket was the perfect solution.

Thanks guys for all your replies!

Depends on the temp. when its cool or cold the leather is worn, when warm or hot, i have the kevlar made by Brosh, a real light but tough jacket.

Yeah mrghos, thats the jacket I have. The leather is not the paper thin stuff, but it is not extra thick either, medium weight. Good summer jacket for the $$$.

Another Switchback wearer here. It was great in the pouring rain and hail with all 3 layers and very comfortable last week in the heat.

FYI: For the t-shirt set , Draggin' Jeans also offers long sleeved mesh t-shirts made of kevlar mesh. Not as good as a padded jacket but better than bare skin on asphalt. Go to their webpage and hit the "draggin' accessories" tab.

I have something for all temps we get here in Florida, but for the hotest days I have a First Gear Mesh Tex pull over. From a distance it looks like a sweat shirt, has CE armour in the back, shoulders and elbows and even in the high 90s with humidity to match its is very cool when moving. Sitting still in the high 90s on any motorcycle in the sun you will be hot no matter what you wear. Never tried the wet t-shirt deal but if I get real hot I will wear the pull over with no t-shirt under it and it is very comfortable.
