Can't say about 300 miles but I rode a V-Rod Muscle last weekend for a group demo ride. Must say, far more comfortable than I would have imagined. Beautiful engine. But like all stock H-D's, needs the volume pumped up a bit to give it some attitude!
If you don't intend on doing many 300 mile days than go for it. They're a blast to ride, I had a night rod special. Unfortunately for me I like to ride at least 200 miles everytime I'm out unless I'm running errands. The bike was not comfortable for me after 100 miles.
I am seriously thinking about going with the Muscle this time around. It's not as comfortable as some of the other Harleys, but it's a great feeling to have that much power and a high top end when you need it.
I can't imagine myself riding one for twenty minutes let alone 200 miles, don't know if it is my age or height-arm length, hands went numb right away, just not my deal,I did try to like them though.

Don't have the Muscle, mine is the standard v-rod. I rode it from Oregon to Sturgis with an average of 500 miles a day. The first thing I did after the first day was buy a gel pad. It made a huge difference.
The bike is just amazing but like most stock Harley seats, it's just not that comfortable. Change or modify the seat and you can ride far more then 300 a day.
