I found some in the auto dept at target that are for cleaning tires and wheels. They don't look any different than the reg household ones, which are great.
BUT be careful!
The box of the household one says:...Not recommended for surfaces that are polished/glossy...
The tire n wheel box says : ATTENTION: DO NOT USE ON PAINTED FINISHES OF WHEELS OR VEHICLE BODY.
I've used them on my fridge and microwave and haven't seen any problems. But them I haven't taken them out in the sun and inspected them either.
Magic Erasers are perfect for whitewalls but not sure about paint.
Not to hijack this thread but another cleaning product that works great is the swiffer dusters. I have used california car dusters for years but these swiffer things are the best for bikes.
DO NOT use them on paint! I can't imagine anything that bad on paint that would need such force. If it does, just try some pre wax paint cleaner (mguires step 1 or similar) and that should take off about anything on the paint.
