That sounds like quite a ride! While I do not have any useful advice for you, I would like to say be careful and have fun.

Are you looking for a backroads ride, or superslab. If you just jump on 71 south to Cincinnati then hit 75 south, you'r there in one day easy. Once you are in Knoxville on 75 just look for the Highway 129 exit. It's also known as Alcoa highway. It's the road to the airport that services Knoxville. Once you're on 129, you just go till it gets curvier than any road you've ever been on. The curvy part is known as the Dragon. If I had a little more information about your trip plans I could probably be more help. I'm from the area, but currently living in Florida. I'll be coming up on July 1st to get married in Gatlinburg and do some mountain riding myself. Florida riding is not my cup of tea. Anyway, don't concentrate too much on the Dragon and miss the other good roads in the area. Try taking the Foothills Parkway off of Highway 129 all the way to the other end, then take a right when it ends. I think it's about 20 miles. That road will take you toward the national park. At the "Y" you can either take a right and go up to Cade's Cove, or take a left and head over the mountain toward the Gatlinburg area. Both are nice easy curvy rides. At this point, I would normally tell you to watch out for yankee drivers, bu since you are one..... Just kidding. Have fun and keep the shiny side up.

The Dragon is fun and the Cherhola Skyway is also a great ride. I try to stay off the superslabs. I think you get to see more of the country that way. Look for some decent state roads and take your time. Have a great ride!

Looking to stay off the superslab on the way down, yes we are going to ride all the other roads once we get to the dragon. We spent a week and half down there last year with the kids so i know what your talking about with the foothills, newfoundgap cherohala and all that.

But on the way down i really don't want to just burn down 75 as my dad and his buddy want to take two days to get down so i figure that gives us the time to stay off 75.

OhioScully,
Chiming in from Cincinnati. I can offer part of your route, but it may include some highway.
Take 42 south from Columbus to I275. You could continue on 42 through Cincinnati, but it will cost you about 20 miles of city riding. If you are ok with some highway, take 275 towards 71, and either stay on to 471 or take 71S to 471. 471 soon dead ends into 27 in KY, wich will take you to Paris KY. Find your way to 25W, and that will take you down into Tn.

Now you are on your own, but there should still be some good riding to take you to your "riding destination".

Ride safe and enjoy!
