I guess that's the main reason you ride more defensively than offensively. Glad nothing happened and you and the misses were able to enjoy the rest of your ride and day. As someone on here has written before " STUPID PEOPLE ARE TO STUPID TO REALIZE THEY ARE STUPID"
It's hard to pay attention while texting, talking on the phone, eating, putting on makeup, under the influence of legal or illegal substance or having sex.Didn't realize it was so much fun in a car, gotta rethink this bike thing!

Pretty similar thing happened to me except I could not avoid her and she redirected me head on into a stopped Honda accord. I flew over her the Honda minus the bike for about 30 feet, having a herniated vertabra, bruises all over and a loss of hearing in my left ear. And $11k in damage to my scoot. Wife was behind me in a car following and saw all. She still doesn't like that intersection. Before you ask..... I was doing 35 miles an hour, had not had a drink in two weeks and was riding a bright red motorcycle with all lights lit. I was wearing a helmet, boots, gloves, leather jacket and since it was extra cold Carhart insulated overalls. She had the state limit in insurance which was 10k property damamge and 15k med expenses. Thank God for underinsured/uninsured insurance
Glas you didn't have to go through with all that. It and your reminder male me extra careful every day

Some people ride everyday and see those things happen as part of life. Keeping out stupid people way is a way of living if ride very much. But on the other hand you can sit at home and talk about how we ride. An offensive rider will be the best defense again the worst driver. A little blast of the air horn will get a person to look your way. That is not going to change the way of driving around worst drivers in your city.
It's no substitute for defensive riding, but after I installed a headlight modulator, I found the number of incidents where I have to take evasive action went down to almost zero. It works so well that I worry I might lose my edge.
I always anticipate these idiots doing exactly the worst thing at exactly the worst time and then I'm never surprised. Good job -you saw it coming and had those brakes covered and were ready.
