outside pad is worn more at the front than at the back as the rotor turns by it. The inner pad is the opposite.
this to me sounds like an wheel alignment issue... if you put a ruler on your swing arm so one end is on the arm and the other end come close to the wheels rim, and if you can spin the rim and the gap between ruler and rim doesnt change, then chances are that your wheel is aligned. if the gap grows larger and smaller as it spins, your axle could be out of line.
Just got the bike back from the dealer. Strangely they called today and said my anti rattle clip wasn't right and needed a new one. They didn't have any in stock and would have to order one. I chimed in that I had a brand new one here at home. Kinda surprised him. The reason I bought it was because I thought I needed one late last year when I pulled the caliper but the clip looked fine.
Anyways, I ran it down to them and they got the bike done. I put the bike up on the lift tonight and spun the rear wheel and it is better. But still drags and the disc was too hot too touch after the ride home.
I also had them fix an oil leak. I thought it was coming from the primary leaking into the starter. They said it was the o-ring on the speed sensor on the tranny. I couldn't tell if they had cleaned up the oil leak but I do know when I got home and checked I still have oil laying on the top of the rear tranny mount. Plus I could still see oil dripping from the bottom of the starter.
I cleaned everything up and will try it out tomorrow and HOPEFULLY it won't leak. They cleaned the bike real nice for me but the oil pool is bothering me. I had left that pool there in the first place so they could see it and I presumed they would have cleaned it up while they were in there.
Took it out today in 100+ degree weather for a 30 mile jaunt. Yep, back to the dealer to fix it right this time. They tried the easy way out but it didn't cut it.
Dealer called this morning after taking the bike in and said that indeed the starter was getting soaked from the primary. Said they'd never seen it before. They had to call Moco to find out what the proper fix is. They said put in a whole new starter motor because the oil ruins them.
Problem is they don't have a starter and had to order it. He said at least 2 weeks if I'm lucky.
He also said that a fellow brought in a 2008 Softail Custom with the exact same problem right after I left. Talk about some long odds...yikes. He said they'd use my bike as the guinea pig...gulp.
I got the bike back last week and so far no leaks. This time they really cleaned up the top of the tranny so if there is any sign of a leak I'll see it.
Got to give Superstition HD, Apache Junction, AZ a big thanks for doing a good job. They never blinked an eye lash on taking care of me even though I have changed the pipes, have XIED's on it, and the Kuryakyn inner primary chrome cover.
