When you say they wore out quickly, do you mean the lens or just the overall eyewear? I'm checking out the Wiley X glasses right now and they seem to carry some more options that I may consider...Thanks!
The foam started coming apart about a month after I got them. I had to use the lanyard in order to keep the glasses on my face, and after a couple of months, the rubber ends swelled and didn't hold anymore. Nothing like riding down the highway, and all of a sudden there's a lot of wind getting into your eyes! Also, the lenses got scratched up really easily. Considering I paid in the neighbourhood of $150.00 for them, I was SERIOUSLY unimpressed!
I have the day/night lenses. I agree they could be darker during the day. Great at night, even brightens things up a bit. They also have a dawn/dusk version. I would assume these don't darken as much as the day/night.
