Aw that hurts.....but it's why I just installed engine guards. Lots of damage happens in the garage & driveway. You might try getting a piece of dry ice and rubbing it on the dent. I have seen some guys pull small dings out of auto sheet metal with dry ice. I think it's what the dent shops use. They rub the dry ice around the outside edge of the dent itself and the metal contracts. Then hold it on the dent for a minute or two and see if it shrinks out. No guarantee but I have seen it work before.

I had the Dent wizard push a ding out on an FLH tank about the same size as you describe and you couldn't find the spot when he was done but on an FLH tank there is a large opening in the top of the tank for him to get inside with his prybars & work it. There is a chance the DentWizard Dentless repair might be able to do it.
