Watch on EBAY, I am telling you we sold 2 last week, one to IL, one down south some where.
If you want give a GM dealership a call and ask how much they will discount a 2010 camaro 8 cyl.
people are still idiots to pay over sticker though. because next year when there is excess volume all of a sudden. the camaro will be discounted, just like every other car. and then it just kills the resale value, of all the people who paid over MSRP. just look what happened with the challenger, or the 350z when it first came out.
I sure hope so, because I don't want to finance but I also don't want to drop 18 in cash on a bike. I don't plan on buying my first HD until early next year, but if there are no deals to be had I've got no problem buying another metric if I see one I like. Getting 2-3 grand off MSRP on a metric is typical in my experience. Problem is that H-D's seem to sell better so you won't get that kind of deal. Finding brand new 1-2 or even 3 year old metrics still sitting at dealers is not uncommon, just look at eBay. I highly doubt you're going to find brand new 2008 Harleys sitting at dealers collecting dust. I know I haven't seen any, and I've looked.
FWIW, a few months ago my buddy paid $21250 out the door for a new '09 Road Glide with paint, security, and ABS. He didn't get free accessories, service, or anything like that. I don't remember what sticker adds up to, but he got over a grand off MSRP.
I've been planning on a new ultra in the near future. My local dealer offered me 13500 and a 1500 gift card to take one of his blue silver ultras off his hands.
2 reasons why I don't take this offer 1 My bike I have now is a blue silver ultra and the attitude they have shown in the past. My wife will not walk in this dealerahip.
leaning toward a white and pewter pearl as of now we'll see.

I agree 100%, as soon as there are more models out there and a dealer has one on his lot a month, they will start dropping their price.

It's all about attitude and timing. Don't act like you want the bike. Shop around, go back 2 or 3 times to each dealer so they know that they potentially have shot with you "one more time". When a sales manager looks at weekly sales numbers, they usually authorize their sales staff to be a bit more aggressive with pricing - especially with people who are ready to buy but DON'T NECESSARILY ACT DESPERATE TO BUY IMMEDIATELY!
I played this game with 3 dealers - I told them what I wanted in terms of a bike and then gave them all fair warning that I would make a decision by a certain date. I ended getting a 09 Road Glide with paint, security and ABS for $18,900 out the door. When one of the dealers (who quoted me $20,000) called me to get an update, I told them what that I was heading down to the dealer to sign to paperwork, he immediately stated that he could match that price. Too late for him!
Remember that the dealers has a much as 30% profit margin in the big touring bikes - so there is always room to negotiate.
I shopped 6 dealers for my 09 ultra. Told each that I knew what I wanted and what I would pay. Told each I was looking at other dealers and which ever met my price had my business.
Only one took me serious, I bought the bike from them. Then two others have called me back twice. I told them both that I was not bs'ing, I bought the bike for my price from the dealer that actually wanted to move inventory.
